Refunds are processed by the Bursar’s Office within 10 business days of aid disbursement.

Payment plans are offered by the Bursar’s Office each semester.

You may see what documents are required from you by visiting the “My Document Center” in your MyMercer portal.

To receive federal aid, you must be enrolled at least part-time for your program of study. If you are unsure of the number of hours you need in your program to be considered part-time, please refer to the Mercer catalog.

Students must be enrolled full-time to receive their Mercer institutional aid.

To receive state aid, you must be enrolled in at least 6 hours.

To receive aid in the Summer, you must be enrolled at least part-time in your program of study. You will be awarded any eligible federal and/or state aid that was not used during the Fall and Spring semesters.

You may find your federal loan servicer by logging into studentaid.gov and scrolling down to the “My Loan Servicers” section. You may also call the Federal Student Aid Information Center (FSAIC) at 1-800-433-3243.

You may complete your Direct Loan Entrance Counseling by logging in to studentaid.gov, clicking on “Loans and Grants” and selecting “Loan Entrance Counseling.”

You may complete your Direct Loan Entrance Counseling by logging in to studentaid.gov, clicking on “Loans and Grants” and selecting “Master Promissory Note (MPN).”

Student Access Loan eligibility is calculated using a formula provided by the Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC). Please contact our office to check your eligibility.

For additional scholarships, please login to mercer.scholarshipuniverse.com. Here, you can answer a series of questions to be matched with potential outside scholarship opportunities.

To maintain eligiblity for HOPE, you must have at least a 3.0 HOPE GPA. This GPA is calculated differently than the Mercer GPA.

Pell eligibility is determined by the EFC From the FAFSA. To receive Pell Grant, you must be in good academic standing and have an EFC of $6,206 or less.

The FAFSA is required for Federal aid. If you do not wish to receive Federal aid, and are a Georgia Resident, you may complete the GSFAPP on www.gafutures.org.

The Satisfactory Academic Progress standard is used to determine if an enrolled student is making satisfactory academic progress in his or her educational program, regardless of whether or not he or she is receiving Title IV aid.

The total COA is an estimate of the student’s educational expenses for the period of enrollment. These expenses include direct university charges (tuition and facility fees and on-campus room and board) and estimates of in-direct expenses (books and supplies, transportation, miscellaneous expenses, loan fees, and off-campus room and board if the student lives off-campus).

There are several reasons that your aid may not have disbursed. The most common is that you have missing documents needed for finanacial aid. Please login to your MyMercer document center to check for what documents may be missing. If you don’t see any missing documents, please contact our office.

To maintain aid, depending on your program, you must be enrolled in a certain number of hours. For information on how many hours you need to be enrolled in your program for aid, please contact our office.

Please contact your Financial Aid Advisor to see what aid you may be eligible for.

Federal loan eligibility not used during the Fall/Spring may be used in the Summer, along with outside scholarships, outside loans, an Parent PLUS Loans.

No. An additional application is NOT required for Summer aid. We will award you based on your registration.

If you withdraw from a class and take a “W” as a grade, you will have attempted that course and your aid and charges will remain the same.

Once you have registered for Summer courses, we will award you aid that you are eligible for during the Summer semester. Aid notifications are sent out during the month of April for Summer aid.

If you completed your FAFSA by the priority deadline, we will award your finacial aid for the next academic year and will send you an award notification via email, sometime in June.

For state aid, you will need to complete a transient permission form. For federal aid, you must be enrolled at the other institution at least part-time, and you will need to complete a consortium agreement with your financial aid advisor.

Study Abroad aid depends on the type of Study Abroad program you are attending. Please contact your Financial Aid Advisor to discuss Study Abroad aid options. You will also want to be sure to meet with the Study Abroad Office.

To receive state aid in the Summer, you must be enrolled at least part-time and remain eligible for the scholarship once Spring grades have posted.

To receive federal or state financial aid in the Summer, you must be enrolled at least part-time in your program. For private loans and outside scholarships, it will depend on the scholarship company and/or loan lender.

All GA residents will receive an email when the SAL application becomes available, which is typically in mid June.

You may login to Scholarship Universe to be matched with potential outside scholarships, and can visit Sparrow to search for private loan options.

The Bursar’s Office typically sends out bill notifications via email on or around July 15.

We encourage your parent to apply for a Parent PLUS Loan once you have received your bill for the semester. Keep in mind that credit checks for the Parent PLUS Loan only are valid for 180 days.

The most common reason you have a hold is that you have a balance on your account. Please login to your MyMercer and check your bill for a balance. If you have questions or need additional aid options, please contact our office.

If you accepted your aid for the Fall semester, you do not have to accept it again for the Spring semester. If you have aid in an estimated status on your account, you will need to login to your MyMercer portal to accept or reject your aid.
